>THE HISTORY OF HAAGEN
>OUR PASSION FOR FIRE TRAINING
Frustrated that the existing fire training equipment on the market could not meet the real training needs at his fire brigade in Baarle-Nassau, Jac Haagen decided in 1986 to build his own smoke generators. What started out as a one-off project has grown into an industry-leading enterprise specialising in world-class products for fire and safety training: HAAGEN Fire Training Products.
A BRIEF HISTORY
From the outset, HAAGEN has distinguished itself with its unique range of truly innovative products that are developed, tested and manufactured inhouse. Well-known HAAGEN product names include the FS-Box, the ACV-Box, Explo Trainer, and of course the Vesuvius and Etna smoke generators.
Over the years, the close connection with the fire-fighting world that initially gave birth to the company has remained. Today, Jac Haagen and his employees are still deeply involved in the fire and safety industries and their developments. Responding to the needs of the market, HAAGEN has developed training products like the Fire Trainer and the M-FIRE, and live-demonstration units such as its innovative flashover simulator and PPV (Positive Pressure Ventilation) trainer. Corporate safety officers and training companies also began working with HAAGEN. They valued the realism, safety, and cost effectiveness of its innovative training systems.
In the 1990s, HAAGEN naturally began to grow from developing customised products to large scale customised projects. HAAGEN specialised in the design and construction of complete training units, from mobile fire fighting containers and trailers, to full-scale structures and training complexes. These training centres can now be found all across Europe and beyond, and the HAAGEN name has become synonymous with world-first simulators including the F1 racer on the Monaco circuit and extensive training campuses such as the Dordrecht Safety Centre.
Fire brigades, industrial safety officers, and safety training companies have come to trust HAAGEN for its reliability and expertise.
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
A unique aspect of HAAGEN is its extensive internal Research & Development
department, where multi-disciplinary specialists work on innovative applications
of new fire and safety technology.
Products are carefully vetted on the basis of rigorous field tests and prototype
designs, and improvements are continuously refined in the areas of realism,
safety and ease of use. HAAGEN is proud that its quality management
systems satisfy ISO-9001:2000 standards.
Without exaggeration, we can state that HAAGEN is the only company in its
field with its own R&D team that is solely dedicated to fire-fighting training
and fire simulation, and that is something we can really be proud of!
SERVICE
Our service doesn’t stop with the sale. All our products are accompanied by a
detailed user manual and information on maintenance and operation. In
many cases, we are able to provide our clients with demonstrations of the products
that they have purchased and train instructors in how to use the equipment
and training materials. Our clients can also contact our dedicated helpdesk
(by telephone or by e-mail) and our fault-clearing service for assistance.
Service contract
To help assure the long usable life of the products purchased, we offer additional
service and maintenance contracts. These contracts provide for regular
maintenance by appointment, reduced hourly rates and priority service,
amongst other benefits. An “all-risk" coverage plan is also available for some
products. Your HAAGEN representative can tell you all you need to know
about these contracts and advise you on the correct maintenance plan for
your needs.
